Abstract

643,355. Centering for buildings; building units. SMITH, G. V. Sept. 26, 1947, No. 26136. [Classes 20(i) and 87(i)] Buildings are erected by means of two hinged frames C in which two halves of the building are assembled or cast in concrete and the frames are then hoisted, for instance, by a crane, so that the two sections meet and are joined at the middle by cement pins &c. The frames may be used to erect the upper part or roof of the building, the frames being mounted on hinges E on walls F. The two halves of the building are temporarily attached to the frames by means of bolts or lugs. The building material may be hollow slabs of baked clay, breeze blocks, sheet metal, concrete, asphalt or synthetic resin impregnated paper blocks, cemented or pinned together. The halves of the building may be built up of several layers of hardboard or metal cemented together or of two layers of hardboard with parallel strips of wood or metal between. Glasshouses may be built by assembling the frames and glass panes in the frames C. An outer covering for the building may be laid in the frames before the building blocks and the interior rendering of the building may be done on the building sections in the frames before erection.
