Abstract

642,476. A.C. motors. METROPOLITANVICKERS ELECTRICAL CO., Ltd. Feb. 25, 1948, No. 5648. Convention date, April 30, 1946. [Class 35] The rotor of a synchronous imbricated pole motor is made to stop in a position favourable for restarting by means of a magnetic positioning member 11 having the same number of teeth 12 as the rotor from which it is separated by a small air-gap. As shown in the exploded view, the motor stator comprises a set of poles 3, 4 energized by a coil 1 whilst the rotor poles 9, 10 are carried by a pair of dished magnetic plates 7, 8 polarized by a cylindrical permanent magnet 5. The rotor spindle 6 rotates in a bearing 15 in a non-magnetic carrier 14 on which the magnetic positioning disc 11 is fixed.
