642,265. Treating gases with liquids. BESKOW, F. A. Feb. 13, 1948, No. 4340. Convention date, March 8, 1947. [Class 55(ii)] Apparatus in which liquids and gases are brought into contact for heat interchange, condensation, purification &c. comprises a battery of casings each containing a section or sections 1 open at top and bottom and containing packing, with inlet and outlet boxes 2. 4 for the gas and sprinklers 6 and collecting channel 2a for liquid at the ends of the assembly. The packing consists of thin sheets 12 preferably of aluminium spaced and stiffened by bulges 13. Two sets may be arranged at right angles in a section or the sheets may be angularly arranged in adjacent sections.
