641,852. Socks for footwear. HAWKINS, Ltd., G. T., and WHITE, H. G. May 14, 1948, No. 13282. [Class 17(ii)] A sock, which may be a heel sock, or a half or whole length sock, comprises an underpiece 1 and a top piece 3, both of lining leather, secured together by a line of stitching so as to leave the margins unattached. The sock is held in position by fastenings driven into the sole at the heel and through the margin of the underpiece and the margin of the top-piece is then stuck down. An interlining 2 of soft resilient material such as felt or rubber may be placed between the parts 1, 3.
