638,376. Seaming non-metallic sheet material. UDYLITE CORPORATION. Aug. 7, 1947, No. 21535. Convention date, April 16, 1943. [Class 42 (i)] [Also in Group XI] A welding tool for welding together two abutting sheets 18, 19 of non-metallic thermoplastic material by the method described in Specification 637,881 comprises a torch (see Group XI] having a nozzle 3 adapted to direct a hot gaseous blast against the surfaces of sheets 18, 19 adjacent said edges as the tool is moved along said edges, a guide 21 associated with the torch and terminating adjacent said nozzle for guiding a thermoplastic weld strip 20 into the gaseous blast and over said edges to weld together the two sheets and the strip, and pressure means in the form of a roller 27 for pressing strip 20 into welding relation with sheets 18, 19. The tool is supported on rollers 14, 15 which serve to hold the edges of the sheets flat during welding.
