Abstract

634,227. Jewellery. LUCAS, E. S., LLOYD-, (trading as SILVER & Co., E.). Aug. 1, 1947, No. 17318. [Class 43] An article of jewellery includes a main stone spaced forwardly from a reflector base member, the face directed towards the stone being concave and provided with light-reflecting means e.g. facets, a highly polished surface, or small stones. A main stone 1 carried by a ring 1<SP>1</SP> is mounted in claws 2 extending from a cylindrical member 3 which is supported by a dished annular backing member 4, e.g. by soldering at 5. A dished reflector base member 6, mounted between the ring 1<SP>1</SP> and backing member 4, carries centrally a small "paste" stone 61 encircled by smaller "paste" stones 7, and preferably has a series of light-admitting slots 8 therein. The reflector 6 may have round its periphery integral lugs 9 which are soldered to the cylindrical member 3 so that the reflector is spaced concentrically from the member 3 to form light-admitting slots 10, light striking the stones 6<SP>1</SP>, 7 being reflected on to the rear facets of the main stone 1. Lugs 11, formed on the cylindrical member 3 between the claws 2, may be rolled over the upper edge of the backing 4 between ornamental knobs 12 thereon. Instead of using the stones 6<SP>1</SP>, 7, the member 6 may be lined with a disc or the like of highly polished metal or may itself be highly polished and formed with facets.
