Abstract

634,025. Batteries. CHLORIDE ELECTRICAL STORAGE CO., Ltd., and GRAY, R. March 8, 1948, No. 7071. [Class 53] An accumulator b is provided with a device for anchoring it to a platform f, the device also serving as a terminal for the external circuit. In the construction shown in Fig. 1 the accumulator casing is formed with a lug a to which is secured a metal strip j attached at its upper end to one of the terminal posts. A screw k passes through the lug a and engages a metal fitting d fixed by screws e and a nut i to the platform f. The bare end g of a cable is soldered in an opening in the fitting d. In a modification, Fig. 2 (not shown), the external cable is clamped between the knob m and the strip j, the nut i and the opening in the fitting d being dispensed with. A second lug and anchoring device may be provided to form the other terminal. Fig. 4 shows a further modification in which two metal strips n leading from the battery terminals are fixed to a single lug o which engages under a fixed insulating bridge q carrying contacts s to which the cables v are connected by bolts u. The opposite end of the accumulator is anchored to the platform f by a pivoted bolt w.
