Abstract
633,376. Cooling high-frequency discharge apparatus. MARCONI'S WIRELESS TELEGRAPH CO., Ltd. May 1, 1947, No. 11773. Convention date, May 31, 1946. [Class 39 (i)] The anode 3 of a " lighthouse " type tube 1 fits into the inner conductor 5 of a tuned transmission line. Heat is conducted away from the anode 3 along a bar 7 which extends through a port in the outer conductor 4 along a channel 8, the heat being dissipated outside the tube enclosure 4 by a radiator plate 9. This may have fins, Fig. 2 (not shown), which may be enclosed in a flue and air-cooled, Fig. 3 (not shown). The flange 11 may be separated from the plate 9 by insulation 12, thus forming an r.f. byepass condenser. The bar 7 may convey current to the anode from a source 13. By making the length of this rod “# or an odd multiple thereof, it acts as an r.f. choke, thus reducing energy loss.
