Abstract
633,272. Gas turbine plant. GENERAL ELECTRIC CO., Ltd., and REEMAN, J. Feb. 11, 1948, No. 4046. [Class 110(iii)] In a gas turbine plant comprising a highpressure turbine 2 on one shaft driving an electric generator 3 and a high-pressure compressor stage 6 and a low-pressure turbine 1 on a second shaft driving one or two low-pressure compressor stages 4, 5, extra air is supplied at low loads to the duct between the turbine stages by an additional compressor 12. This compressor may take its air from the atmosphere or from a point between the compressor stages 4, 5 or from an intermediate point of a single low-pressure compressor stage. It may be driven by the turbine 2, or be separately driven. According to the Provisional Specification the additional compressor 12 may be omitted and the additional air bled at a suitable pressure from an intermediate point of the compressor.
