Abstract

A cleansing composition in dry, watersoluble form comprises a mixture of 100 parts by weight of an alkali-metal or ammonium salt of a dialkyl sulphosuccinate in which the alkyl groups contain from 5-10 carbon atoms, and 5-100 parts of an alkali-metal or ammonium benzoate. The preferred composition comprises sodium di-octyl sulphosuccinate and sodium benzoate. There may also be present in the compositions, for example, soap, sodium phosphate, other detergents such as tetra-sodium pyrophosphate, and inert organic or inorganic materials such as sodium sulphate, disodium phthalate and sugars, for example commercial glucose. Specification 446,568 is referred to.ALSO:A surface-active composition in dry, water-soluble form, suitable for use in wetting out textiles, in the preparation of photographic film-developing powders and in other operations requiring a water-soluble surface-active agent, comprises a mixture of 100 parts by weight of an alkali-metal or ammonium salt of a dialkyl sulphosuccininate, in which the alkyl groups contain from 5-10 carbon atoms, and 5-100 parts of an alkali-metal or ammonium benzoate. The compositions, which may be prepared by evaporating a solution of the sulphosuccinate and benzoate in an aqueous solvent to dryness for example by spray drying, may also contain for example, sodium phosphate, soap, other detergents such as tetrasodium pyrophosphate, and inert inorganic or organic materials such as sodium sulphate, disodium phthalate and sugars such as commercial glucose. The preferred composition comprises sodium di-octyl sulpho-succinate and sodium benzoate. Specification 446,568 is referred to.
