[Class 29] An open-type refrigerated display case comprising a rear wall 6, side walls 4 and a low front wall 12 has refrigerating means 22 in an air circulating passage having an inlet 48 located substantially at or below the level of the upper edge 44 of the front wall, so that spilling of cooler air over the walls of the case is eliminated. The upper portion of the front wall is of glass and the other walls are insulated. The rear wall 6 has a forwardly extending projection 16 from which extends a rearwardly inclined baffle 40 of insulating material. A further baffle 24 is positioned between the baffle 40 and the refrigerating pipes 22 to form the elongated air inlet 48 to a passage 46 up which air from the top of the display space passes to the refrigerating pipes, the cool air passing downwardly through a passage 26 to issue to the lower part of the display space through apertures 30 in the baffle 24. Cold air also passes through apertures 32 to the space beneath the perforated goods-supporting shelf 14. A second cooling coil 50 may be positioned in this space. The shelf may be inclined or horizontal. A drain gutter 52 is provided at the bottom of the baffle 40, and a lamp 20 is supported on the projection 16. Specification 631,723 is referred to. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 includes also the subjectmatter of Specification 631,723 and states that the air may be circulated by a fan in the opposite direction. This subjectmatter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
