Abstract
631,473. Cartons for milk &c. VIVIAN, G. S. Feb. 18, 1947, No. 4730. Convention date, Sept. 7, 1945. [Classes 18 and 66] The tops of the walls of a carton for milk, oil, or powdered or granular substances is folded inwardly as in Fig. 2 to form a peak top, a tab 10 is then folded into a space 21, or 22, or over a strip 14, the upstanding closure may then be stapled at H, Fig. 4, near the edges and folded down against a panel C flanking the top; and the carton is opened by pulling back a scored part of the strip 14 &c. so that the contents can be poured out through the opening left between the doubled-in sides 25, 26. The carton is re-closed after use by slipping the flap G in under the tab 10. Any drips after pouring drop back into the carton. In a modification the lower edges of the flap G converge to a point so that it may be torn right out. The carton may be formed of paper, cardboard, or plastic sheeting, and proofed with wax, rubber, resins, or cellulose derivatives &c. The bottom of the carton blank may be as disclosed in Specification 529,201.
