Abstract

629,430. Ice-cream containers. BRUUN, O. J. Aug. 27, 1947, No. 23696. [Class 128] [Also in Groups XVI and XVII] A cup-shaped capsule for holding ice cream and made of metal foil has pleated side walls consisting of compressed overlapping layers of the foil 1 and a pattern of indentations 2 superimposed over the pleats so as to interlock the overlapping layers together and stiffen the side walls. The indentations in the form of grooves 2 are preferably more closely spaced than the pleats and arranged to intersect the lines of the folds of the pleats. The grooves may be in straight or wavy lines or they may intersect one another. They are impressed after the pleated cup has been formed either by a pair of male and female dies, or by a rigid male die cooperating with a smooth faced resilient female die surrounding the cup which is subjected to liquid pressure to press the cup into the pattern on the male die.
