Abstract

629,141. Treating liquids with gases. GLITSCH, H. C., and GLITSCH, F. W. July 10, 1947, No. 18275. Convention date, June 22, 1942. [Class 55 (ii)] A bubble cap supporting device comprises a transverse element spanning the deck plate opening, its ends engaging the underside of the plate, outwardly extending members being secured to the element and engaging the top of the plate, so that up or down movement of the device is prevented. In one form, the device comprises a bar 13 rebated at the ends to fit within the deck opening 11, with its lugs 14 engaging the underside of the deck plate 10. A pair of arms 20, of resilient metal, are welded, one on each side of the bar 13, each having a lug 21 adapted to engage over the lip of the flange 12. A threaded rod 18 is secured to the bar 13. The device can be mounted from above by passing it through the opening in a tilted position and then pulling it straight upwards, when the arms 20 contact the edges of the opening 11 and are deflected into the position shown dotted Fig. 6, and then spring out so that the lugs 21 engage over the flanges 12. Simultaneously, tongues 14 contact the underside of the plate. If desired, the device can be pushed into position from below. The riser 24 and bubble cap A can now be assembled as shown in Fig. 7. The device is also adaptable to openings other than those of circular shape (Figs 8 to 11, not shown).
