627,643. Jet propulsion of aircraft. LJUNGSTROM, B. May 5, 1947, Nos. 12100 and 12101. Convention dates, May 9, 1946 and May 17, 1946. [Class 110(iii)] The air inlet 2 and the propulsion jet 3, or either of them alone, are divided up by series of angularly adjustable vanes 5, 6. The vanes of inlet and jet may be on horizontal or vertical pivots and the pivots of the inlet vanes may be at right-angles to those of the jet. The vanes of either series are simultaneously adjustable through suitable gearing. The vanes may be used to deflect the gases to produce a braking effect or for backward propulsion. The vanes may be in double echelon as shown or a single row in echelon below the centre of the unit may be used.
