Abstract
627,566. Photographic copying apparatus. HUEBNER, W. C. May 6, 1946, No. 13653. [Classes 98 (i) and 98 (ii)] A copying apparatus has a resiliently mounted carrier for the sensitized surface, a copy carrier, and a lens carrier with a lens, all the carriers being disposed vertically in planes parallel with that of the sensitized surface, and comprises an overhead rigid guide or monorail extending approximately parallel with and substantially in the vertical plane of the optical axis of the lens, the carriers being suspended from the guide and at least one carrier being adjustable along the guide, resilient supports for the guide at longitudinally spaced points permitting vertical resilient motion thereof, resilient tensioning means and fastening means with which the tensioning means co-operates to exert downward tension on each adjustable carrier in any position of adjustment. As shown, Figs. 1, 3, the guide ccnsists of a rigid tube 10 with a rail 13 of inverted T-section fixed thereto, and outwardly projecting plates 17 at each end, and is supported by adjustable tension springs 15 between plates 17 and plates 16 fastened to a ceiling or to brackets 19 supported on a baseplate 20. The carrier A for the sensitized material is fixed at its upper end to the plate 17 at one end of the guide, and at its lower end to the baseplate 20 by springs 21. The lens carrier B is suspended from a carriage 25 having two pairs of rollers 28, 29, preferably in adjustable eccentric journals, by which it travels along the rail 13. The carrier is adjusted to a plane parallel with that of the sensitized material by braces 30. Below the tube 10 is a trap rail 35 fixed to the baseplate 20, or to the floor, having flanged side walls 36, Fig. 4. A T-section traveller 38 has a web carrying rollers 39 riding below the flanges, and is fastened by adjustable tension springs 40 to a plate 41 on the lower end of the carrier B. A lens E is mounted on the carrier B which is connected by bellows F to the carrier A. The carrier C is similarly suspended and has clips 67 for attaching the original to be copied. The suspension of carrier D is also similar, its carriage 34 having two rollers only. Lamps 72, preferably tubular, are supported at the sides of an open rectangular frame 70 on carrier D. The carrier A consists of two rigidly connected frames 50, 51. The sensitized material 53, Fig. 3, is held on the rear frame 50 by movable cross-bars 54, 55. The frames 50, 51 carry a flange 59 extending into a peripheral recess in an opening in a partition 58 to form a light trap for a dark room on the side of the partition remote from the camera. A screen holder is mounted between the frames 50, 51 to rotate about a pin 63, and carries screens 61, 62 symmetrically disposed about the pivot so that either may be brought in front of the sensitized material. The carriers may be motor-driven. In operation, the original is placed on the carrier C and photographed normally. For making photo-templates, metal or plastic plates may be mounted on carrier C to receive an image projected through the lens E. Transparencies are mounted in the open frame of carrier D, and illuminated by light from the lamp 72 reflected by, e.g. white paper on carrier C. Specification 495,665 is referred to.
