Abstract

627,410. impedance networks. WEIGHTON, D., and PYE, Ltd. Jan. 28, 1947, No. 2572. [Class 40 (viii)] A hybrid transformer for use at very high frequencies, comprises a pair of members 1 and 2 forming a section of balanced transmission line, one member 2 at least being a hollow metal conductor, means such as a screen 3 connecting the members 1 and 2 at one end, a conductor 4 forming a concentric line with member 2 and connected to member 1, and a further concentric line whose inner conductor 5a is connected to the centre of a bridge 8 connecting members 1 and 2, the outer conductor of this further line being connected to the screen 3. The balanced pair 1 and 2 are connected to an unbalanced pair 6 and 7. If two transmitters are connected to the latter they are combined in phase at output 5 and in antiphase at output 4. Alternatively the transmitters may be connected to 4 and 5 respectively and in phase and antiphase combinations taken from lines 6 and 7.
