626,538. Button-and-loop fastenings. HORA, J. Feb. 25, 1947, No. 5477. [A Specification was laid open to inspection under Sect. 91 of the Acts, Aug. 26, 1947]..[Class 44] A stocking suspender comprises a buckle for attachment to a retaining band and a clamping device for holding the stocking or sock, the movable parts of the clamping device being mounted by means of studs engaging in recesses. The clamping device is actuated by a crank link formed in two parts 38, 39 mounted on studs 37 formed on the stirrup which is in the form of a closed frame 30. The parts 38, 39 are united by a stud 40 and recess 41 and connected to the arm 44 carrying the button by studs 42. These parts are assembled in the frame 30 by deformation of the frame and are so proportioned that in the clamping position, the thrust on the button is taken by direct abutment between the moving parts to relieve the studs from load. The buckle may comprise a clamping lever 34 pivoted on studs 33 on an axis at right-angles to the centre line of the device or in another form it is povoted on an axis parallel to the centre line of the device. The parts may be formed of a plastic having some resilience. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 further describes a stocking suspender shown in Figs. 1 and 2 (Cancelled) comprising a tab buckle 1 having slots 2 and 3 and a pivoted clamping dog 11 in the lower slot, arranged in the clamping position to be supported by the lower edge of the slot to relieve the pressure on the pivot 12. The buckle is pivoted at 6 to a loop frame 5 and at 7 to a stay 8 the two pivots forming a crank link operable by tilting the buckle in the direction of the arrow A to lift the button 10 out of gripping engagement with the loop. A projection 14 engages a recess 15 to retain the buckle in the clamping position. The button may be sleeved with rubber or the loop may have a rubber lining 16. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
