[Class 125 (iii)] A closure comprising an inherently elastic dome-shaped plate 1 the indentation of which causes the edge to expand to form an airtight joint maintained by the stress in the plate is supported within the opening 3 solely by the grip of the plate which cooperates with a recess or like abutment in the container. A resilient or compressive band 8 may be attached to the plate 1 or to a frame suspended within the opening 3. The closure may be a unitary moulded article.
