Abstract
626,278. Handbags &c. BURNEY, R. W. Aug. 25,1947, No. 23400. [Class 133] In order to obtain three lengths of strap a handbag, satchel or purse has a strap 12, which has both ends removably attached to the body of the bag by e.g. a press-stud, so that a member 13 has to be tilted (prised with the finger) to remove it from the member 10, each end of the strap being passed through an adjacent ring 9 to prevent accidental tilting and removal of the strap, and two securing points are provided on the bottom on to which the ends of the removable strap may be secured. Each ring 9 is held in the fold of a loop 8, one at each end of the bag on the inner face, and the turnedover upper edge 11 of the bag lining is stitched to the loop 8 and the turned-over upper edge of the bag, and/or may be held by the element on to which the end of the strap is to be fastened. By providing a further stud member on one length of the strap 12, the strap may be still further shortened so as to lie against the top of the bag. The attachment means may be of the turn-buckle type and the strap may have a sliding buckle or other adjustable means.
