Abstract
626,208. Purifying water. MULVANEY, H. A. Nov. 9, 1945, No. 29898. Convention date, May 24, 1944. [Class 46] [Also in Groups XII, XIII, XXI, XXXIII and XXXV] An apparatus for condensing exhaust gases, from aircraft engines to provide water for all purposes, the water obtained is passed through a layer 191 of asbestos, Fig. 1, or other material capable of removing oily constituents, and then through a bed 188 of active carbon supported on a helical blade 190. The active carbon is made from nut shells, preferably cocoanuts, and has particle sizes ranging from 20 to 48 mesh. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 comprises also a filter bed of silica gel 318, Fig. 13, (Cancelled), under the active carbon, and a heating coil 319 round the filter casing supplied with engine exhaust gases or an electric current. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
