Abstract

623,864. Draught-excluders. HEMMETT, G. C. May 20, 1947, No. 13600. [Class 20 (iii) ] A draught-excluding attachment comprises an angle-bar 1 to be attached along the lower edge of a door 2, and a bar 3 carrying a flexible strip 4. The bar 3 is hinged to the bar 1 about an axis spaced from the door surface, and biassed by gravity or spring means into an inclined position with the strip 4 raised from the floor, and has a projection 6 at one end to engage the door jamb so as to rotate the bar 3 towards the floor when the door is closed. In the form shown in Fig. 4, the bar 3 is of angle form and the flexible strip 4 is secured by a strip 5. A coil spring (not shown) acts on the hinge 7 to urge the bar 3 into the full line position shown or alternatively the strip 5 acts as a weight. In a modification, the bar 1 has bent over end plates 12 (Fig. 6) between which the bar 3 is pivoted at 13. In this case the bar 3 may be flat as shown and have a metal weight strip 5 above the pivot.
