Abstract

622,094. Moulding corrugated asbestos cement sheets. GUERCI, G. Feb. 16, 1940, No. 3023. Convention date, Feb. 22, 1939. [Class 87 (ii)] Corrugated asbestos cement slabs are moulded by feeding gradually a plastic sheet of the slab thickness to a corrugated mould and forcing the sheet into the corrugation as the sheet comes into the mould. The plastic material in roll form 16 is fed by a conveyer 15 under a cutter 17 and each severed length is then fed by the conveyer to a mould 14 into the corrugations of which it is pressed by rods 19 constituting a squirrel-cage type roller. The mould carriage 13 is caused mechanically to advance at such a speed that the material is transferred to the mould without drag being applied to the material. According to a modification the cage type roller 19 may be replaced by a cylindrical roller mounted on freely swingable arms. On completion of the moulding operation, the mould is removed from the carriage and the slab caused to set in known manner.
