[Class 141] A brassiÞre consists of a front portion comprising upper breast pockets 6, Fig. 2, and a lower part composed of a central inelastic section 7 joined by downwardly converging seams 15 to lateral sections 8, 9, extensible longitudinally of the garment, which are joined, also by downwardly converging seams 17, to the side portions 10 of the garment which fastens at the back. An elastic insert 28 may be provided in the pockets 6 together with inserts 27 in the bottom edge of the garment and inserts 29 in the shoulder straps. Attached to the inside of the garment, Fig. 1, is a diaphragm-controlling panel 19 comprising a central inelastic section 20 stitched at the top and bottom to the section 7, and lateral elastic sections 21, 22 stitched to the portions 10 but free at their upper edges. Elastic breast-supporting straps 30 may be provided within the breast pockets.
