Abstract

620,838. Electric immersion heaters. FITZSIMMONS, W. K. June 20, 1947, No. 7452/46. [Class 39(iii)] In an electric immersion heater wherein the heater is coaxially located in an outer vertical cylinder B so that a relatively narrow water - containing space is formed between the heater and casing, the casing B having an inlet 6 at the bottom and an outlet 7 at the top, and wherein the heater has a screw-threaded mounting or head 5 screwed into a tapped aperture at the top of the cylinder, the head 5 projects down to the level of the top of the outlet 7 to obviate any pocket in which steam might collect. The heater comprises an element 1, say of 2 kilowatts, bent up to embrace a U-shaped central heating element 2, say of 1 kilowatt, both depending from the head 5, which also carries a thermostat 3. In modifications, vane or like means are provided in the casing to lengthen the path of the water, or as in Fig. 4, (not shown), a single heating element may be used with an integral or separate helix or pin means. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specifications 167,238 and 289,237, [both in Class 39(iii)].
