Abstract

618,831. Refuse containers. DEMPSTER BROS., Inc. Nov. 13, 1946, No. 33747. Convention date, Dec. 20, 1945. [Class 108 (i)] A refuse container comprises a roof 12, a floor 13, one end wall 10 recessed at 25 to accommodate a downwardly swinging bail 27 and an upwardly swinging towing tongue 29, and two side walls 11 each provided with a jack 20, lifting pin 21 and chain deflector 23. The open loading end is provided with two upper doors 31 hinged to roof 12 and spring- urged into a substantially horizontal position and supported by safety arms 34 and one lower door 35 hinged to floor 13 and locked by pins 37. Doors 31 are locked against door 35 by manually operable latches (not shown). When loaded, the container is hoisted by engaging the chains of a dumper of the type referred to in Specification 547,680 with lifting pins 21 and deflectors 23 until bail 27 engages a hook on the dumper. The chains are then slackened to swing the container downwardly about bail 27 into its discharging attitude.
