Abstract

616,689. Resilient mountings. FORD MOTOR CO., Ltd. Sept. 24, 1946, No. 28578. Convention date, Oct. 26, 1945. [Class 108 (iii)] An engine mounting comprises a resilient member 5 of concave-convex form which is disposed between a support 6 and a supported member 11 with its convex surface disposed towards the supported member 11, and an annular retaining member 9, which is bonded to the member 5, is arranged with its outer periphery in contact with the inner surface of a base cup 7; between the supported member 11 and the resilient member 5 is a spacer plate 15 of flat disc-like form which is smaller in diameter than the resilient member 5 and has its peripheral portion curved away from the resilient member so that under load the rounded portion of the spacer is indented into the convex portion of the resilient member, the displaced resilient material being forced into an air space 28 beneath the resilient member and out between the spacer 15 and the annular member 9. The supported member 11 rests on the spacer 15, and is secured to the support 6 by a bolt 8 passing through the spacer 15 and rubber member 5. The spacer 15 bears against an abutment 27 on the bolt 8, and a lower resilient member 16 is interposed between the support 6 and head and shank of the bolt 8; this member 16 surrounds the shank of the bolt 8; and a flanged ring 23 bonded in the upper end of the member engages a central hole in the cup member 7. An air space 26 is provided between part of the bore of member 16 and the bolt 8. The cup 7 has an inner flange 12 for fixing in a hole 20 in the support 6, and. a bearing plate 10 is provided in the top surface of the member 5 for engagement by the spacer plate 15.
