Abstract

616,028. Cam gearing. PEET, A. Aug. 21, 1946, No. 24889. [Class 80 (iii)] Helical cam gearing applicable to steering mechanisms &c. comprises a rotatable cam 3 having a helical thread 9 engaged by two truncated conical pins, rollers or the like 4, 4a on a pivoted rocker arm 5. The pins are of smaller diameter than the width of the cam groove, and always remain in contact with opposite flanks of the same portion of the thread 9, and cannot disengage therefrom at the extremities of movement of the rocker arm 5. The cam groove may be cut by revolving the cam in contact with cutters having the same form and motion as the two followers 4, 4a respectively.
