[Class 52 (v)] [Also in Group X] A bracket for supporting a load on brick and the like walls comprises a triangular framework the horizontal load-bearing member of which is extended to penetrate the wall and the extension is fitted with one or more abutments which engage the inner side of the wall. The framework is constructed of T-shaped metal and comprises horizontal member 1, strut member 4 and vertical member 3 which is hinged at 7 to the strut 4, is curved to avoid irregularities in the wall surface and is attached adjustably to the inner end of the member 1 by means of plates 17 and an adjustable lever 14 which is pivoted to the plates 17 at 18 and to the member 1 at 16. The web of the member 1 is continued inwards to form a hook 10 on an extension 2 which is of a size to fit in the space formed by the removal of mortar from between bricks. A socket 11 is fixed to the member 1 to support a bracing scaffold rod 24 between two like brackets. The rod 24 may be connected to the next lower stage or the ground by braces 25 and telescopic member 26. Modifications described comprise toggles secured to the member 1 by an axle which passes through a locating member, which may be substituted for a brick, the device being inserted by pushing the toggle through the wall with the bracket horizontal and then turning the bracket vertically; or the locating member may be fixed to the member 1 and the toggle which may be spring- urged turned from the outside of the wall ; or the locating member may be a tongue which fits in a slot between courses of bricks the bracket secured by toggles passing through the same slot. In all the forms described, horizontal stays engaging the outside surfaces of the walls may be fitted.
