Abstract

614,681. Switch covers. HARTLEY, A. W. M., JONES, J. R., and AKERS, R. S. July 19, 1946, No. 21695. [Class 38 (v)] A junction or fuse box 1 contains an enclosed snap-action switch 4 having an operating lever 5. A strip 8 attached to the hinged cover 3 carries a bevel-edged block 9 which engages the lever 5 to open the switch when the cover is opened, and by lying against the lever prevents closure of the switch with the cover open. A channel member 10 having walls 13 pivoted to the strip 8 adjacent the block, is urged by a spring 15 against the lever 5, so that on closing the cover the part 11 of the channel member 10 engages over and lowers the lever to close the switch. The cover is held open horizontally by stays 16 and serves as a shelf for tools &c. whilst replacing fuses with spares which may be clipped to it. A spring ball catch may retain the cover in the closed position.
