Abstract

613,570. Cycle brakes. BRUN, M. June 17, 1946, No. 18169. Convention date, Oct. 20, 1941. [Class 136 (i)] In a cycle brake comprising two levers 1 individually pivoted at 2 on the respective fork tubes 3 and carrying the brake shoes 5 at their ends nearest the wheel axis, their opposite ends being adapted to be forced apart against the action of return springs 15, the actuating gear comprises a pair of toggle links 7 connecting the outer ends 6 of the brake levers 1, articulated about a pivot 8 which is attached to an actuating cable 9, and a second pair of toggle links 11 pivoted to the brake levers 1 at points 10 intermediate between their outer ends 6 and their pivots 2, the articulation 12 of this second pair of levers carrying an abutment 14 for the cable sheath 13. The brake springs 15 are attached to the levers 1 at points intermediate their outer ends and the pivots 2 and to the toggle links 7 near the pivot 8.
