Abstract

613,387. Combustion-chambers of oil engines. ENFIELD CYCLE CO., Ltd., and NOSSITER, C. F. June 20, 1946, No. 18502. [Classes 7 (ii) and 7 (iii)] In a compression ignition oil engine, a spherical pre-combustion chamber d<2> having integral therewith a flat part forming the valve seats d3, d<6> is cast into the cylinder head, an interengaging flange d<4> being preferably provided. The fuel injector is mounted in a flanged adapter e, and an electric glow plug or a pressure indicator may be mounted in a boss d'. The throat d<6> is preferably tangential to the chamber d<2> which is made of high heatresisting material. Cooling air passes across the cylinder head, being directed by passages a2 and ribs a<1>.
