[Class 39 (iii)] [Also in Group II] In an apparatus for depositing a metal on a support by thermal evaporation of the metal in a vacuum a heater bar consisting of a thin rod of tungsten 25 is gripped between blocks 26 of copper supported on posts 26a passing through the floor 2a and insulated therefrom. The blocks 26 are carried on supports 27 of copper comprising strip portions 28 thin enough to yield on the expansion and contraction of the rod 25. Each support 27 is electrically connected by a bar 30 fitted to a post 26a, to a lead 29 clamped by a nut 31 to the post 26a. Specification 485,965, [Group II] is referred to.
