611,319. Vehicle suspensions; stabilizing systems. BAKER, G. R. Jan. 18, 1946, No. 1710. [Class 108 (ii)] A stabilizing and suspension system for a vehicle comprises two beams 4, 5 pivotally supported at a point intermediate their ends and extending to substantially the centre of the vehicle, the beams being pivotally connected at their inner ends to an intermediate and substantially vertical connecting link 6 and at their outer ends to connecting links 7, 8 which are pivotally connected to a vehicle axle or a part 13 associated therewith. The beams may be supported on resilient pivots 3, and, in order to reduce the height of the structure, the transverse vehicle member may be cut away at 19a to allow movement of the beam ends. If there is a differential housing on the axle, the points of attachment of the links 7, 8 may be offset from the centre line of the axle to prevent the beams fouling the housing. The axle may be supported on the usual springs, or one or more spiral springs, whose tension is adjustable, may be placed between the inner ends of the beams 4, 5 and the chassis.
