Abstract

608,646. Supply systems for X-ray apparatus. GENERAL ELECTRIC CO., Ltd., and CALDWELL, J. T. Feb. 6, 1946, No. 3741. [Class 38 (iv)] [Also in Group XX] An X-ray tube 3 is mounted in a shock-proof head together with high-tension auto-transformers 4, 5 which generate between 20 per cent and 80 per cent of the peak-operating voltage of the tube; a filament transformer 27 is also mounted in the head. The supplies for the three transformers are taken into the head by way of cables 30, 31. Cable 30 comprises two core conductors 37, 38 and is connected to the secondary of a transformer 43, the primary of which is connected with an A.C. supply 45; cable 30 is also connected with the condenser 46 of a D.C. generator 41, the condenser being charged by a high-tension transformer 47 supplied with A.C. from 45. The primary of transformer 47 is connected in parallel with the primary of a transformer supplying a similar D.C. generator 50, the secondary 51 of transformer 47 being connected with a valve rectifier 52. The cable 31 has three core conductors and is connected with the D.C. generator 50 and through the core coriductor 54 with a transformer 55 and an A.C. filament supply 72.
