Abstract

608,567. Hose pipes. LEBEN, L., and IMPERIAL CHEMICAL INDUSTRIES, Ltd. March 22, 1946, No. 8972. [Class 99 (ii)] A pipe of rubber or rubber-like material is covered by braiding or winding yarn, filaments or fabric composed of highly polymeric linear esters obtained by heating one or more glycols of the series HO(CH2)nOH, where n is greater than one and not exceeding ten, with terephthalic acid or an ester-forming derivative thereof. The braided or wound covering may be secured to the pipe by adhesive solutions and may be coated with a rubber or rubber-like material which may be vulcanized. A preferred ester is polyethylene terephthalate. The pipe may be of butyl rubber, neoprene or plasticised polyvinyl chloride.
