Abstract
607,214. Compound sheet materials. JABLONSKY. B. Aug. 17, 1945, No. 20981. Addition to 532,724. [Class 140] [Also in Group XXIII] In a plywood structure according to the parent Specification wherein an inner or intermediate layer forms a series of cells with the outer layer on one or each side of the inner layer, at least one of the layers being of s compressed laminated wood, the inner layer 1 is provided with slots 4, 5 reaching from alternate edges 6, 7 of the structure almost to the opposite edges 7, 6 respectively, which slots give the structure greater flexibility. Some of the wood laminae of any one of the layers may be replaced by laminae of textile fabric, paper, cardboard, metal sheets, metal foil, or wire netting. The space between the inner layer 1 and the outer layers may be filled with a lightweight material such as expanded or foamed rubber. The inner layer 1 is preferably corrugated as shown and the slots 4, 5 are preferably at right-angles to the corrugations. The flexibility of the structure may be increased by attaching the inner layer to the outer layers at discrete points only and by providing slots similar to the slots 4. 5 in the outer layers, these slots being staggered relatively to the slots 4, 5.
