[Class 100(iv)] Duplicating arrangements.-In a typewriter or like machine wherein relatively continuous paper webs are interleaved with a set of carbon sheets for duplicating copies, an attachment therefor is provided comprising a supporting-frame 1 having yielding catches 5 which in their normal position are engaged by the carbon-sheet holder 25 to prevent forward movement of the sheets when the webs are being fed forward for severing the typed copies. The catches 5 are pivotally mounted on blocks 6 adjustable lengthwise of the frame 1 according to the length of the carbons, the catches being held in their normal positions by weights 7 or springs which can be adjusted to vary the resistance to tilting of the catches. The weights can be replaced by a bar joining the two catches situated at either side of the frame 1. Stops 31 on the blocks 6 limit the rearward movement of the holder 25. In use, after the sheets have been typed, the webs and carbons are fed backwardly until the holder 25 tilts the catches 5 which rise behind it, the carbons now being free from the platen 23 and feed rollers 22. The catches retain the carbons while the webs are being fed forward to detach the typed copies. The carbons are now interleaved with the succeeding sections of the webs and by applying finger pressure, are drawn forward by the webs when the rollers 22, 23 are operated, tilting the catches 5 against the action of the weights 7. The frame 1 is secured to the paper rest 21 by clamps 11 which may be adjustable transversely of the frame. In addition, a strut 20 engaging a part of the machine may be provided. Paper supports.-Adjustable side guides may comprise discs on a roller 3 mounted on a spindle 2 attached to the frame 1 or members 4 looped over the roller 3 and mounted on the edge of the frame 1. A central ridge on the frame 1 curves the papers to make them more rigid as they are fed rearwardly. Indicators.-A pointer 10 may be adjustably mounted on the edge of the frame to indicate when the webs have been fed forward the correct amount. Specification 604,450 is referred to.
