Abstract

604,107. Electro therapeutic apparatus. DANSK INDUSTRI SYNDIKAT, COMPAGNIE MADSEN AKTIESELSKABET. Aug. 8, 1941, No. 10100. Convention date June 21,1940. [Class 81(ii)] [Also in Group XL(c)] Apparatus for the treatment of nerves and muscles by means of electric pulses, especially for the artificial innervation of muscles, comprises means for producing a rhythmically pulsating control current. The frequency of the pulses and their amplitude are variable simultaneously about a datum and in addition the mean frequency and the mean level of the pulses are independently variable. In the Figure the charging and discharging of capacitor 16 controls the current through a valve 1 and the voltage developed across resistors 8, 11 to control the amplitude and frequency of pulses. The potentiometer 30 enables the amplitude to be reduced to zero. The charging and discharging of capacitor 44 produces a sawtooth waveform of frequency determined by potentiometers 41, 46, and varying in amplitude with voltage across potentiometer 11. Sharp pulses are produced from the sawtooth wave by network 50, 68, 69 the spacing being determined by the setting of potentiometer 11 and are amplified by valve 51 the amount of amplification being varied by the potentiometer 8 above a minimum level determined by potentiometers 60, 68. A network may be inserted in the grid circuit of valve 51 to vary the pulse shape.
