603,736. Sand-blast; rumbles. ETABLISSEMENTS A. SISSON. Oct. 29, 1945, No. 28589. Convention date, Oct. 6, 1944. [Class 60] A cleaning arrangement comprising a drum for cleaning by projection of sand or shot, having an inclined axis, open at the front and closed at the rear, rotatable upon its axis and in which are deposited the work-pieces to be cleaned, is characterised in that the drum is mounted upon a carriage or truck which can enter a casing carrying the means for projection of abrasive for effecting the operation of cleaning and can leave thereafter in order to give place to a second carriage or truck. The workpieces are loaded into an open-fronted rotary drum 10 on an inclined shaft 9 carried by a truck 4 which can be moved into a cabinet 1, the wall 2 of which carries the abrasive projecting means, which may be centrifugal wheels or compressed air jets. The rear of the cabinet may be closed by a sliding door or by a screen 3 carried by the truck. The truck is held in working position by a latch 6, and in this position a gear 15 driven by a motor meshes with a gear 14 on a shaft carrying a bevel gear for rotating the drum ; alternatively, the driving means may be mounted on the truck. The usual collecting hopper, elevating device and abrasive cleaning devices are provided. The drum has internal ribs 27 to ensure cascading of the work-pieces, and has perforations 28 to allow the escape of abrasive. The drum may be provided with a flap 25 to facilitate discharge of the contents of the drum. In a modification, the drum is mounted on a cradle which is tilted to discharge the contents. Various means for manipulating the trucks are described.
