Abstract

603,308. Yarn tensioning. MELLOR, BROMLEY, & CO., Ltd., and SHORTLAND, A. Oct. 10, 1945, No. 26425. [Class 120(ii)] [Also in Group VIII] A fancy yarn t is tensioned by being wrapped around a conical roller 1 on an extension of the spindle of one of a pair of wheels 5, 6, feeding a ground yarn y, the peripheral speed of the large end of the roller being less than the lineal speed of the yarn t and the degree of tension imposed being determined by carrying the yarn round a chosen groove or grooves on a rotatable guide 7, so determining the point along the cone at which the yarn shall be wrapped. The yarn t passes through the notched end of the pivoted dropper 12 of a stop motion actuated by breakage or excessive tension of the yarn; and through the eye of a yieldable take-up member 10.
