600,092. Making levers. WINTER, J. R. Aug. 1, 1945, Nos. 19760, 19761 and 19762. Convention dates, July 19, 1944, Oct. 27, 1944 and March 10, 1945. [Classes 83 (ii) and 83 (iv)] [Also in Group XXVII] Flanging ; jointing by stamping.-A rocker arm assembly comprises an arm having a tubular hub element extending through an opening therein which is rigidly connected to the arm by annular, bulbed heads formed on the element and engaging opposite sides of the arm. In Fig. 1 a laminated rocker comprises a sheet-metal stamping bent on itself and welded to form cylindrical ends 11, 16 for a pin 22 and threaded stud 25 engaging the operating cam and valve stem. A tubular element 28 is locked in the opening 27 by outwardly bulbed beads 30 formed by compressing the element 28 axially in dies. An oil groove 50, formed by the inner edges of the laminations, results from distortion during the stamping operation.
