Abstract
599,735. Centrifugal compressors. PEARSON, H. Jan. 23, 1945, No. 1845. [Class 110 (i)] Inlet guide passages for a centrifugal compressor comprise external walls 14, 15 and a dividing wall 13 defining passages leading from a peripheral inlet 11 to the impeller eye. Vanes 12, at the inlet 11, have a curvature which is greatest at 12a so that a swirl is imparted to the incoming air which is greatest for that part of the stream going to the outer part of the impeller eye. The vanes 12 at the end 12b may be radial or curved to impart a backward swirl.
