Abstract
599,117. Game apparatus. CRAYMER, H. J. Sept. 17, 1945, No. 23979. [Classes 132 (ii) and 132 (iii)] A device for playing a game comprises a wheel mounted on a spindle, a weight or mass mounted on the spindle and spring means acting between the spindle and the weight or the wheel so that when the wheel is propelled the tension of the spring is increased until it overcomes the propelling force and causes the wheel to reverse. As shown a wheel 1 consisting of two end discs spaced by a ring member has a spindle 2 upon which is rotatably mounted a weight 4 by means of a U-shaped member 12, the weight 4 having a band 9 one end of which is doubled back to form a member 10 to which is secured a spring 11. The other end of the spring 11 is attached to a cord 6 leading to the spindle 2 to which it is anchored. On propelling the wheel the cord 6 is wound up on the spindle 2 so tensioning the spring 17 until such time as the reaction of the spring overcomes the propelling force and reverses the rolling of the wheel. Fig. 4 shows one means of playing the game. The wheel 1 is propelled by a cue 17 along an alleyway 13 and the object of the game is to propel the wheel with sufficient force as to, say, make it pass one of the flags 16 but stop short of the succeeding flag.
