Abstract

597,928. Winding yarns. SELLARS, W. April 20, 1944, No. 7295. [Class 120 (ii)] In a machine for winding balls of yarn &c. the spindles 1 are mounted upon a rocking frame or cradle 2 the oscillations of which are controlled by means of a cam 25 on the machine framing by means of a lever or push-rod 27a connected to the rocking frame 2, the cam being rotated intermittently by means of a pawl. The spindles 1 and flyers 23 are driven at variable speeds through chain and sprocket gearing. The arc and speed of oscillation of the cradle 2 are also variable. The cradle or rocking frame 2 normally moves through sixty degrees about the vertical position, the maximum swing being forty-five degrees each side of the vertical. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specifications 8210/01, [Class 120], 3913/13 and 303,426, [both in Class 120 (ii)].
