Abstract

596,438. Flowmeters. WHITAKER, J. H. Jan. 25, 1945, No. 2040. [Class 69 (i)] In a flowmeter of the type in which the fluid passes through a variable annular area defined by a seating and a relatively movable plug, the plug 16 is prevented from sticking by causing it to rotate under the reaction of jets from one or more ports 20, 21 in tubular projections 18, 19 directed towards the downstream side of the plug. The annular area may be varied either by the plug moving in a circular tapered tube 10 or by a circular member moving along a central tapered rod.
