Abstract

596,148. Agricultural tractors. CATTANACH, R. S., and MECHANISED HORTICULTURAL IMPLEMENTS, Ltd. April 3, 1945, No. 8201. [Classes 79 (i) and 79 (iv)] Relates to power driven agricultural vehicles for pulling or pushing a wheeled chassis carrying tools, particularly of the kind also described in Specifications 596,210 and 596,211. According to the 'invention, the length of the wheel base between the land wheels and propulsive unit and the tracking distance apart of the landwheels are independently adjustable. In the form shown, a frame tube 1 is slidably engaged in a block 3 so that the wheel base length may be varied. The block 3 is, in turn, slidably mounted on a hollow axle 16 so that the position of the land wheels with respect'to the longitudinal axis is variable. Land wheels 25, 26 are mounted on stub axles carried,by bars 17, slidable within the axle 16 so that the width of the track of the land wheels may be varied. The braced framework 5, over the endless track element 6. supports the power unit 7. The steering column 4 fixed to the frame head 2 rotates in a tube rigidly supported on the framework 5. Reference is made to a tool-coupling device described in Specification 578,529, [Group XXV].
