[Class 30] A safety razor comprises a razor body, a guard, and a clip slidable into a recess in the body and carrying the blade by gripping it near one end so that the blade is free of restraint for the greater part of its length. In one form, Figs. 1 and 3, a single edged hollow ground blade 4 is gripped at one end by clip members 3 carried by the parts 2, 2 of a split rod 1 which is inserted in a recess 6 of the razor body 5. The back of the free end of the blade engages an abutment 3A to maintain the edge of the blade parallel to the rod 1. A guard member 11 is carried by rods 13 passing through guide holes 5G in the stem 5B of the razor body and is adjustable by a nut 16 engaging a screwed rod 14 secured to the guard and also passing through the stem 5B. In a second form, Fig. 2, for a double edged blade having a central longitudinal slot, one end of the blade is clamped in a slot 22 in a clip 17 by a screw 23, the clip having a projection 18 engaging in the slot in the blade. In a third form, Fig. 4, a three hole double edged blade is gripped at one end between high parts 54A, 55A of a two part pivoted clip 54, 55 having studs 57, to engage the blade holes. The clip of Figs. 2 or 4 is slid endwise between rails 24, Fig. 2, in the razor body, the top 26 of which bears resiliently upon the top of the clip. Specification 451,338 is referred to.
