Abstract
595,744. Cask, drum &c. closures. BROUGH, E. A. June 23, 1945, No. 16050. [Classes 21, 66 and 125 (iii)] A sheet metal cask, drum or like container, has a retaining clip for detachably securing the lid, the clip comprising two sheet metal parts, a pivot 5 bent into tubular form and fixed to the cask, and a lid engaging clip 8 one end 7 of which is looped around the pivot and the other end clamps the lid with a resilient wedging action. In the form shown only the central portion of the pivot is bent into tubular form, each end of the pivot being secured to the base 15 of a corrugation 13 running around the drum 2. The edges 3, 9 of the lid 1 and the drum may be beaded, and the clip is curled at 10 so that a finger ring may be fitted to it, or it may receive a sealing wire 11 fixed on the lid or to the handle.
