Abstract
593,074. Door stops. WILLIAMS, H. T. Aug. 8, 1944, No. 15093. [Class 65 (i)] A door stop secured by a bracket 1 to a door, or the like, has a telescopic foot which engages the floor when a spindle 4 is depressed, as by foot-pressure, against the action of a spring 3. Means, such as a lever 13, automatically retain the spindle in its lowered position. The inner member 8 is secured to the spindle. A stirrup 11 extends through holes in the member 9 around the spindle 4 and rests on top of the inner member 8, as shown, when the stop is inoperative. In a modified arrangement, the member 9 has its upper end formed as a closure resting on top of 8, its base being formed by a disc which supports a spring 12. Rubber, felt or the like may be provided under the stop. A nut 10 may be locked in position, as by a blow on a screwdriver inserted in a slot in the lower face of the nut. In place of the lever 13 a pivoted pin 17, with a head 19, Fig. 4, which pivots in the spindle 4 to hold the spindle in either of its extreme positions may be used. A manuallyoperated lever 21 is pressed down to raise the spindle from its lowered position. To make the return stroke of the plunger silent, a rubber or like pad may be provided on the crown of the foot. The stop may be used on sliding doors or the like.
